Crimson Breasted Boubou

One of the most stunning colored birds in our part of the world.
It is almost a shock to see the bright red in the pale dry bush.

Brilliant! we have a sort of similar red-winged blackbird, when it flys the red shows. Stunning!

Surprisingly they aren't that easy to spot unless they are facing your way.

Great pic!!

Good point, Janet! my (second) favourite bird ever - so glad you went to fetch the other lens, as mine was a red dot..

Tienne thanks so much for sharing your fabulous photo of one of our favorite birds. Saw it at Ngepi. Went back and looked at our photo which had been captioned " Crimson Breasted Shrike," but it was the same bird as yours just not as good a photo. Looked it up on google and found that they are indeed the same bird. We like the name better....

Just found your blog, magical photos. Having travelled from the North of Africa to the bottom myself, I will enjoy reading your travels. I will be back. Diane
